This was a perfectly good transponder but rough handling during shipping and inadequate packing material made for some expensive repairs.

 

You can see from the photo below that the box was too small and there was no room for cushioning material between the front panel and the side of the box. One sharp blow to the box is easily transferred directly to the plastic front panel.

Unfortunately, damage was not limited to the plastic front panel. The switchboard was also damaged beyond repair and will have to be replaced as will the front panel.

Use lots of packing material and make sure the box is not too small!
