I've
posted a collection of photos on my website to "sort of"
document my construction progress and share information to others.
There are a ton of better sites out there but, hopefully, someone
will benefit from my feeble effort. My intent is to provide a few
lines of comment on each photo but that may take a while.
I started
the project in 2000 and my builder number is 27. I think I may have
the slowest quickbuild on record, I don't know. There was never any
rush to complete the project since I already had a set of wings, a
Piper Dakota. I'm also a man of many projects and I like to bounce
from one project to another. Unfortunately, they are all expensive
and I can't support more than one at a time. Our other big project
is house building on Crooked Island in the Bahamas.
As of
October, 2006, I was working on the finish kit and starting to think
about avionics, instrumentation and powerplant purchases. All expensive
items which will likely slow me down even further.
In June
2007, I was in the final stages due diligence and getting real serious
about purchasing an engine and prop. In addition, it looked like the
glass cockpit is the way to go and, of course, a leather interior.
Costs are adding up quickly!!
Now
it's, late October 2007. I managed to order the Sprtsman leather interior
from Classic Aero and a Hartzell CS BA prop from Vans. Pretty sure
I will order a new IO-360 from a shop in Oklahama during the first
quarter of 2008. Steady progress is being made and I've been working
on the fuselage/finish kit for the 5 or 6 weeks. Got the empenage
fiberglass tips installed, rollbar completed, canopy latch done and,
now, working on the canopy and instrument panel installation.
Feel
free to email me with any questions. I also hang out at vansairforce.net
as Mike
